How to find your
IMEI number.

Every phone has one, and there are four places to find it. The fastest takes about three seconds.

Four places to find your IMEI:

  • Dial *#06# on the keypad — it appears instantly, on any phone.
  • iPhone: Settings › General › About. Android: Settings › About phone.
  • Printed on the SIM tray, on several iPhone models.
  • On the barcode label of the original box — works even if the phone is dead.
01

Dial *#06#

Open the dial pad and type *#06#. The number appears immediately — no call is placed, and on most phones this works from the lock screen. This is the fastest way and it works on every make, Apple or Android.

02

Look in Settings

On an iPhone: Settings › General › About, then scroll to IMEI. Press and hold to copy it. On Android: Settings › About phone › IMEI. Some Android skins put it under Status instead.

03

Check the SIM tray

Several iPhone models have the IMEI printed on the SIM tray itself. Pop it out with a paperclip and hold it to the light — the print is small.

04

Read the original box

It is on the barcode label. This is the one place the number survives the phone being dead, lost or stolen, which is exactly when you tend to need it.

Seeing two numbers is normal on a dual-SIM phone — one per SIM, with the eSIM carrying its own. Use the first, IMEI1, for any check or sale.
